After 13 years of planning and hard work, Radio 3KND received its broadcasting licence, and the multicultural city of Melbourne finally had a black voice the Indigenous community could identify with.
Also known as the South East Indigenous Media Association, this radio station keeps the community informed through its coverage of local and national issues and mix of information and news.
3KND broadcasts a variety of different programming, including the local breakfast show, a national talkback show, and its own “deadly drive time show".
It plays a cross-section of music, from punk to Indigenous to country, and even broadcast a gospel show.
As well as offering the community with great radio broadcasting, 3KND also hosts Indigenous broadcaster training courses.
