Buckley House (Ivanhoe) is coeducational from Early Learning to Year 6. The Ridgeway Secondary Campus (Ivanhoe) caters for boys and girls from Years 7 to 12 and students can study either the International Baccalaureate (IB) or VCE. The Plenty Campus (30km north of Melbourne’s CBD) is coeducational from Prep to Year 12. Ivanhoe Grammar School is a member of the Round Square international network of schools. Established in 1915, Ivanhoe Grammar School is a multi-campus, coeducational independent Anglican school with a proud tradition of academic, performing arts, sporting excellence, and of service to the wider community. Student programs are tailored to meet individual needs, and the school encourages the development of well-rounded young people ready to make a valuable contribution to the adult world.
Curriculum: The curriculum is academically rigorous and challenging. Not only does the school foster personal, moral and spiritual awareness, it also endeavours to develop a wide range of life skills. These include foundation skills in literacy and numeracy, thinking and problem-solving skills, personal qualities, interpersonal skills, time and resource management and information management skills. The school balances essential knowledge with a choice of pathways including VCE and IB and Vocational Education at senior levels. Academic rigour is reflected in the 2005 results where 45 per cent of students studying the VCE or IB achieved an ENTER score of 85 and over, placing them in the top 15 per cent of the state. Extracurricular activities: In the performing arts and music areas the school offers a choice of music, choirs, bands, ensembles, orchestras, school musical and performing arts productions, private instrumental and vocal tuition. It also has a wide range of some 25 sports and many other co-curricular activities including cadets, debating, international student exchange and academic competitions.
Student welfare programs: There are many support programs as well as a comprehensive pastoral care system. Throughout the school, students grow as individuals within a caring community and support and counselling are available to help students as they progress.
