Nitenichiryu: Strategic Swordsmanship

Grand Master: Imai Masayuki

History

The founder of Nitenichiryu (strategic swordsmanship) was Miyamoto Musashi Fujiwara Shingen. In his childhood Musashi aspired to be a swordsman, he endured both training and discipline beyond life and death, surviving some sixty duels. After his thirteenth duel he reflected upon his goal in life and realised that he had not reached it, so he further refined his sword skills. After his fiftieth duel, Musashi established the art of Nitenichiryu, swordsmanship in perfect harmony with reality. Musashi was also the author of a text called Book of Five Rings, Book of Solitary Walk, which is affectionately read throughout the world today and is seen by some as a focal point for their lives. The benefits of accomplishing strategic swordsmanship are that your mind is composed, stable, you remain calm and assured.

Musashi was born in 1584 and ended his life at the age of 62, on the 19th of May 1645.
