Founded by Tech alumnus Frank Gordy, Class of 1929, in 1928.
Modeled after an earlier eatery he opened on Luckie Street and North Avenue called The Yellow Jacket.
Famous for its carhops, including Flossie and comedian Nipsy Russell
Mr. Gordy always extended Tech boys credit by cashing a check and then holding it until the student could cover it.
A late-night dash to the Varsity became known as a V-Run.
Serves more than 2 million Coca-Colas a year, more than any other restaurant in the world.
