FRIDAY September 14, 2007
Stewart accepts Snakes front office job
Wednesday, April 4, 2007 - 11:03 AM
Cairns Taipans

Anthony StewartThe Cairns Taipans have announced that Anthony Stewart will remain with the club for next season and will take up a position in the front office.

Stewart said it was a difficult choice to make, but knew it was the right decision to take up the position with the Taipans.

“I am really excited about taking up a new challenge and working in the front office with the Taipans. I truly think there are some special times ahead both on and off the court and I want to be a part of that. The Taipans have been fantastic to my family and I have enormous respect for the owners and management in giving me an opportunity to remain with the club. My family and I love the region and we are really looking forward to staying in Cairns with the Taipans.”

Cairns Taipans General Manager Denis Keeffe said;

“Stewie has been and still is a magnificent ambassador for the club. He has been the face of the Taipans for a long time and was a big part in building the club from scratch to where we are now. Its something both he and the Taipans are very proud of and he will be a terrific asset to the organisation. We couldn’t be happier that he has decided to take on a position in our front office.”

Head Coach Alan Black also added;

“Stewie is just one of those guys you love to have in your team. He is one of the most coachable players I have ever had, is a born leader and the type of character that bonds a team together. He has had some special times in his career, winning championships etc, but I am sure all Taipans fans will remember him for the guts and determination he played with and that memorable shot against Adelaide in extra time to get us into our first ever semi-final series two seasons ago. He will be missed on the court, but it’s great that he is still a part of the club and contributing towards our goal of our first ever NBL championship.”
