Kent State appears to be on the verge of landing University of Michigan transfer Cobrani Mixon to bolster the interior of its linebacking corps.

Several Internet reports are claiming the Cincinnati Colerain graduate, who redshirted for the Wolverines last season, has agreed to transfer to KSU. Those rumors appear to be true.

Mixon's link to the Golden Flashes is redshirt freshman defensive back Brian Lainhart, who was a teammate of the 6-foot-1, 226-pound linebacker at Colerain.

Landing Mixon, who received offers from Ohio State and Louisiana State among other schools before settling on Michigan in July of 2005, is a major coup for the Flashes.

Mixon would sit out the 2007 season as a transfer but have three years of eligibly remaining beginning with the 2008 campaign.

As a high school senior, Mixon ran the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds, maxed out at 315 pounds on the bench press and recorded a vertical leap of 33 inches.

Mixon played through an ACL injury as a high school junior to help Colerain to a state championship. He finished his prep career ranked as the No. 8 inside linebacker in the nation and the ninth-best prospect in all of Ohio by Rivals.com. Prep Football Report rated Mixon as the No. 73 overall player in the nation.

Mixon recorded more than 200 tackles in his three-year varsity career, despite being slowed by his knee injury as a junior. His senior year was highlighted by 135 tackles, two interceptions and one defensive touchdown.
