Barry Mano, President Barry Mano, President
Racine, Wisconsin

Mano is the founder and publisher of Referee magazine and founder of the National Association of Sports Officials. He is a retired 23-year basketball official who worked nine seasons at the NCAA men’s Division I level. Mano is a renowned public speaker and administrator. He is also a member of the NASO-initiated Officiating Development Alliance.

John E. “Jack” Roberts

Anita Ortega, Chair
Hacienda Heights, California

Ortega is a 20-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department and is currently the commanding officer of the Hollenbeck Patrol Division. As a basketball player, Ortega was inducted into the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. She is an accomplished women’s basketball official having worked eight consecutive NCAA Division I women’s tournaments. She currently works in the Pac-10, Western Athletic, Mountain West and West Coast conferences.

Jack Bissell, Vice Chair
Wayne, New Jersey

A graduate of Princeton University and the University of Virginia School of Law, Bissell retired as chief judge of the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey, in September 2005. He has been a member of the National Ice Hockey Officials Metropolitan N.Y. Chapter since 1972. Bissell was an ice hockey referee for both high school and NCAA Division III, retiring from on-ice duties in 1999. He has spoken frequently on the value of good sportsmanship in athletics.

Ronnie Carter, Secretary
Pleasant View, Tennessee

Carter is the executive director of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association. His career has been spent in secondary education as a teacher, coach, official and administrator for the past 36 years. Carter has served on the NFHS Football Rules Committee since 1978. He also served on the NFHS Basketball Rules Committee for 12 years (eight as chair) and the NFHS Wrestling Rules Committee during his career. Additionally, Carter is a past president of the NFHS board of directors.

Henry Zaborniak, Treasurer
Pickerington, Ohio

Zaborniak is the assistant commissioner for the Ohio High School Athletic Association, in charge of sports officials. He began his officiating career in 1975. Currently he officiates football in the Big 10 and is a former Division III men’s basketball and Division I women’s basketball official. Zaborniak is also a former World Football League (NFL Europe) official.

Bill Carollo
Shorewood, Wisconsin

Carollo is currently the Vice President of Global Sales for Manpower Inc., after spending more than 30 years as an international account executive for IBM. He has been an NFL official since 1989, and an NFL crew chief since 1997. He officiated the 1996 Super Bowl as a side judge and took control of the 2003 Super Bowl as the referee. Additionally, Carollo serves as the president of the the National Football League Referees Association. Carollo also worked as a Big 10 Conference basketball official from 1982-88.

Sandra Hunt
Bellingham, Washington

Hunt is a FIFA and USSF instructor and assessor, a National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association national referee and a USSF Referee Committee member. She is a former FIFA referee. Hunt’s onfield resume includes working the 1999 and 2003 Women’s World Cups, the 2000 Olympics, and the 2002 and 2005 Women’s NCAA College Cup Finals.

Jerry McGee
Monroe, North Carolina

McGee is the president of Wingate University and holds a doctor of education degree. He is a football official in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and has officiated 14 college bowl games. McGee is currently the national chairman of the NCAA Division II Football Issues Project Team and recently completed a term on the NCAA President’s Council. He is an author and also a highly regarded consultant for organizations and schools throughout North America.

Violet Palmer
Los Angeles, California

In 1997, NBA referee Palmer became the first woman to officiate an NBA game. Formerly, she worked as a NCAA Division I women’s basketball referee in the Pac 10, Big West and West Coast conferences. She officiated the NCAA women’s Final Four four times, including two national championship games in 1996 and ’97. A standout basketball player at Cal Poly-Pomona, Palmer was captain of the team and led her squad to back-to-back NCAA Division II national championships.

Tom Robinson
Denver, Colorado

Robinson is the Colorado High School Activities Association assistant commissioner. He’s currently a Mountain West Conference (WAC) football replay official, Big 12 basketball observer and NFHS Football Rules Editorial Committee member. Robinson is a former WAC and Mountain West football official. He worked numerous bowl games, including the Fiesta and Rose Bowls. He is also a former high school teacher and coach.

Dave Yeast
St. Louis, Missouri

NCAA national coordinator of baseball umpires; former Missouri Valley and Conference USA coordinator of baseball umpires; former NCAA Division I umpire that worked fourteen straight NCAA baseball tournaments including two College World Series; worked the 1996 Olympics; 1999 IBAF International Umpire of the Year; 2005 American Baseball Coaches Association “Meritorious Service Award” recipient;  retired NCAA football and basketball referee; Officiating Development Alliance member; NASO Board of Directors.
