Health Insurance

All students enrolled in twelve credit hours or more at Huntingdon College are required to have health insurance as protection against injury and illness. This requirement may be satisfied through the Student Health Insurance Plan sponsored by the College or through proof of coverage by a private health insurance provider.

For the 2005-2006 academic year Huntingdon College will continue health insurance through Frontline Insurance Group. The cost of Frontline's Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan represents a dramatic decrease in price from the previous year and is included on your student account bill. As in the past, participation in the plan is required for all students unless you have an approved existing plan, in which case you must complete the waiver form indicating other insurance coverage is in effect. The waiver form must be completed and returned to the Dean of Students Office with a copy of your existing insurance card, no later than September 2, in order to avoid being charged for the non-refundable premium. Your student account will be automatically charged and you will be enrolled in the student health insurance plan until the waiver form is received. ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE COVERED BY THIS PLAN.

We recognize the risks that students with no health insurance face. The financial and physical burden from accident or illness may force one to prematurely end his/her academic career. Therefore to ensure that all students have a plan to meet any unexpected and potentially heavy expense of hospitalization and other medical treatment, The College requires all full-time students to be covered by health insurance. Students enrolled in 6 to 11 hours are also able to voluntarily enroll in this insurance program. To further assist you and your family there are options available in this plan to add supplemental coverage at an additional charge.

Non-Student Athletes

Students that need to purchase insurance may do so through the Huntingdon Student Plan. This policy is meant for the students not participating in athletics. Students who purchase this plan will be billed through their student account.

The cost of insurance for U.S. students (full year - 9 mo.) and international students (12 mo.) is $600.

Given the above, please consider the low cost of this plan as a means of protecting yourself and your family from the high cost of health care. Any questions you may have regarding this insurance policy should be directed to Frontline Insurance Group's Student Division. Before waiving out of the plan please consider the following:

  • Existing health plan coverage may be lost or reduced for students who are relocating from another state or region to Montgomery. Check your existing policy for limitations related to out-of-state coverage.
  • Some plans do not allow out-of-area Primary Care Physicians.
  • If you are in an HMO or PPO, certain specialty services may be limited.
  • Your existing coverage may expire prior to the end of the academic year. If that happens, you must continue to show proof of insurance or subscribe to the College plan.
  • Your family policy may not cover you after a certain age. Check your policy for all pertinent limitations and exclusions.

Student Athletes

Student athletes are fully responsible for obtaining health insurance prior to participation in any sport-related activity. The above mentioned health policy is not acceptable for athletic coverage.
