"The Stoned Guest" performance coming up this week promises to be a gut-buster. A 40-minute opera completed in one act, it features frolicking, murder and loads of humor. While it is loosely based on the famous classical opera "Don Giovanni" and also parodies many other productions, it has a style and sense of humor all its own.
In 1958 the Isis Theatre in Independence closed, and since then, the people in Monmouth and Independence have had to make a minimum of a 40-minute round trip to see a movie, heading to either Salem, Dallas or Corvallis. However, on March 18th, the Cinema 8 Theatre opened in Independence, and things have been going well.
