Picture: Airstair door falls off TAM Fokker 100 in Brazil

Brazilian newspaper pictures show the front airstair door which fell off a Fokker 100 aircraft operated by Brazilian carrier TAM yesterday, forcing it to conduct an emergency landing.

The door appears to have fallen into the street immediately outside a supermarket.

A TAM spokeswoman says the incident occurred shortly after the aircraft’s departure from Sao Paulo. The aircraft landed back at Sao Paulo 18min after its departure.

No injuries are being reported among the 70 passengers and crew on the flight, and there are no known casualties on the ground.

The aircraft was en route to Rio de Janeiro.
