Hewitt Signs for Another Year

UNISON Sheffield Steelers have confirmed that forward Jason Hewitt has re-signed for the club, his 3rd season as a Steeler.

Coach David Matsos confirmed the signing from his home in Canada by saying “I always talked about keeping a core of players and Jason is right at the heart of that core. He is so important to me, he has improved so much this season and if that continues we will have an outstanding talent here

”Jason was so very easy to coach last year, he took in everything that we asked of him, he was like a sponge, he soaked up everything and came out a much better player

”With Jonathan Phillips and Warren Tait already signed we have the foundations set here, these great British players are the core of what we are about, they will be our foundations for a few years I hope”

Jason Hewitt joined the Steelers after a year with his home town club Manchester and 2 seasons with London Racers, he was delighted to confirm him self to the team again “it was a pretty quick conversation, Dave told me he wanted me back, I told him I didn’t want to play anywhere else and 10 minutes later we had a deal

”Why would I want to leave Sheffield, I still think it’s the biggest and best club, we have a coach who has taken us far in a short time, we are only going up, you would be crazy not to want to be a part of what is happening here”
