Steelers have added a 2nd summer signing with the confirmation that GB International forward Warren Tait will return to the club for the 3rd season.
Tait has had an outstanding year for David Matsos scoring 6 goals and adding 11 assists, also becoming renown as one of the best defensive forwards in the bmibaby Elite League, and a member of the GB squad at the World Championships in Slovenia.
Coach Matsos said “Here is a player I can rely on night in and night out, he never takes a game off and gives a solid effort all the time. I can trust him in key situations at critical moments of a game
”Warren is a joy to be around, I can say that he gave me more pleasure to coach than anyone last year, his willingness to learn, to take in what is being told him and for him to carry our specific instruction made it the easiest of decisions to offer him a new contract with the club”
Warren Tait is presently with the GB squad’s training camp in Coventry, from where he said “I’m delighted to be going back to Sheffield, it’s a place I call home now. It is also nice to sign early and know your future is sorted out before we go away with GB
”I would like to think I have improved under Matty’s time here in Sheffield, he has certainly shown faith in me and I hope I have repaid him with my play. Matty has given me lots of responsibility and when you have a coach who shows that kind of trust in you, it makes you feel a part of what he is trying to build here and you want more of it”
”I honestly believe that Matty is building a team here for the long term, a group of players who will go to the wall fro him and the club, go on to win championships here. I am thrilled that he considers me to be one of those players. Its why out negotiations took less than 10 minutes to complete”
