The Book of Sonning, by Angela Perkins, was first published in a limited edition in 1977. It has long been out of print but is still in demand, being the only book to describe both the history of the village and some of its more colourful personalities; it has some 180 illustrations.

The approach of the Millennium gave the necessary impetus for a reissue of the book to be planned by a small ad hoc committee in the village, with the full cooperation of the author and the publisher. The author has made a few slight alterations to the text and some of the illustrations have been changed, including the book cover. A map of the conservation area is now included and two pages of text added to the last chapter, bringing it up to date. Any profits will go to village good causes.

The Book of Sonning, while being of particular interest to residents and visitors, should have a wider appeal.
