Adopt a School is an aid programme designed to assist the rebuilding of schools in Sri Lanka following the destructive 2004 tsunami.

Guiding Principles of Adopt a School:

  • This project, developed in the wake of the 2004 tsunami, promotes the following goals:
  • To establish long term supportive relationships between schools/youth organisations in Australia and similar institutions in Sri Lanka
  • To promote intercultural understanding through communication and visits between the two countries
  • To enhance the learning experiences of young people about the complexities of global citizenship.

Donations are made to the PLC Sydney Overseas Aid Fund and are tax deductible for Australian residents.

Adopt a School has been set up in co-operation with Adoptsrilanka which also organises other programmes giving assistance to tsunami ravaged areas of Sri Lanka.
