One of the few two-decked stadiums in Class AAA, PNC Field (originally known as Lackawanna County Stadium) was built in 1989 after a local nonprofit group, Northeastern Baseball, Inc., stepped forward and bought the Class AAA Maine Guides and moved them to the Scranton area. After all was said and done, PNC Field ended up costing $11 million, with the funding coming from local and state sources.

In terms of scenery, PNC Field is well-known for its scenic locale at the foot of Montage Mountain. There's only one road in and out -- Montage Mountain Road -- and the somewhat remote location (the stadium is halfway between Scranton and Wilkes-Barre) lends to the scenic atmosphere.

The consensus seems to be to avoid the upper deck of the stadium, as those seats tend to be too far away from the action on the field. All of the grandstand seating is arm-chair seating, while there is bleacher seating down each line. The upper deck provides shade to the lower deck; between the two decks is a luxury-box level with a glassed-in restaurants, the Stadium Club.
