Couture Added to ADT Canada Russia Challenge Roster

Toronto - The Ontario Hockey League announced today that Ottawa 67's sophomore forward, Logan Couture has been added to the OHL roster for the 2006 ADT Canada Russia Challenge. The native of London, Ontario will participate in the game that will be played in Oshawa on November 27, 2006.

Couture will replace former Peterborough Petes' star Jordan Staal, who is currently enjoying a successful rookie campaign with the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League. Staal, a participant in last year's ADT Canada Russia Challenge was selected second overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Penguins.

Couture was a finalist for OHL rookie of the year last season after scoring 25 goals and adding 39 assists for 64 points in 65 games for the 67's. His outstanding season last year has helped him to secure a roster spot for the 2006 ADT Canada Russia Challenge as well as make him one of the top rated players for the next year's NHL Entry Draft.

The ADT Canada Russia Challenge features a team of CHL Regional All-Stars that play against the Russian National Junior team. The ADT Canada Russia Challenge plays an important role in the selection process of Canada's National Junior Team. A selection committee made up of OHL General Managers, Allan Millar (Sarnia Sting) and Jeff Twohey (Peterborough Petes) along with Jim Hammett, Hockey Canada's head scout for the Canadian National Junior Team have selected the 22 player roster for both of the games to be played in OHL centres.

Rouyn-Noranda will host the first game of the annual series at the Dave Keon Arena on Monday November 20. Val-d'Or will host the second game of the series on Tuesday November 21. Sarnia (Thursday November 23) and Oshawa (Monday November 27) will host the OHL leg of the series as Chilliwack (Wednesday November 29) and Kamloops (Thursday November 30) of the Western Hockey League wrap up the final leg of the series.

All six games will be broadcast nationally on Rogers Sportsnet and the two QMJHL-hosted games will be broadcast in Quebec on RDS.

The 2006 ADT Canada Russia Challenge is supported by CHL associate sponsors NAPA Auto Parts, Bank of Montreal, Boston Pizza, Reebok and Canoe.
