Take Action

Greater Wellington Regional Council supports environmental education in many ways.

This website gives you all the information you need about our popular school programme Take Action for Water and also provides links to other programmes such as Enviroschools and Trees for Survival.

We can offer advice and resources for projects in your school and tips on ways to find funding

In 2005 the UN Decade for Education for Sustainable Development begins. This is a great time to be getting involved in environmental education.

Greater Wellington also supports businesses through the Take Charge programme and community environmental restoration projects through Take Care.

Take Action for Water

The aim of the Take Action for Water programme is for children to take responsibility for their environment - with help from teachers and the community.

It’s free, fun and hands on. Students investigate and explore the causes of water wastage and pollution in their local waterways and then take action with solutions.

To see how Take Action for Water can work for your school check out our Teachers page.

See our Action project gallery for photo stories about kids taking action for the environment.

Try out our Games to test your skill at finding pollution solutions.

Whether you do the guided or the self guided programme or if you just want to find information and ideas, this website can help you. This is your chance to Take Action, to make a difference.

Go on …. get involved!
