Nickname:

Channel: #allrpg Server: irc.Xelium.net

For a better Chat experience we suggest that you download an external IRC chat program such as Invision or Tempest. If you have any questions about connecting through an external program just ask anyone through the Java chat above.

Chat FAQ
Q: Where can I get the program needed to chat?
A: There are many different ways to chat in the Allrpg.com chat room. The first, and easiest would be to use the Java program above on this page and chat through there. It requires IE 4.5 and Netscape 4.5 with HTML 6 or higher, as well as java support to work. If you want to go through a program like many others you can go to www.mirc.com for the standard program and aero.n3.net for a version with added options. If you are on the Macintosh platform you can go to www.macirc.com to download IRC for the Macintosh format.

Q: How do I register my nickname?
A: First type /nick "nick" for the nick you want. Now, type /msg nickserv register "password" and it should register. Now, log out of the server and go up to the options folder and go to perform under the IRC option. Check the on connect perform these commands box and under the big box type in /msg nickserv identify "password". Click ok. Now you will log into your nick everytime you log onto the server.

Q: What are the people with @ and + by their name?
A: The @ are the operators of the channel. They keep everything running smoothly and kick out the trouble makers. The + means voice and protects members from mute.

Q: I was chatting and all of the sudden I left the chat. What happened?
A: Two things. You were either kicked by an Op for misbehavior or you were disconnected. All you have to do is re-connect. If you cant then you may have been temporarily banned from the chat.

Q: What are some basic commands I can use?
A: There are a variety of different commands you can use on an IRC server. Some of the major ones are:

/nick = Changes the nick to what you want, unless it is registered or already taken.

/me = Creates an action line. (example: "/me beats on you with a broom" will become "*your nick beats on you with a broom*".

/join #channelname = Joins you to a new channel.

/quit = Disconnects you from the server

Q: I see all these people having automatic welcome back messages and attack commands and ascii art. How can I do that?
A: Those are one of the extra features found in IRC programs. To do a WB message in the Tempest program right click on the targets name and go down to WB message and add it. The attack commands and ascii art are easily found by right clicking on the side of the chat with the names and going to Weapons of War and the art by right clicking on the channel and going to Special Text. In the submenu's you will find ascii art and 3d box art etc..

Q: When some people talk to me in the chat my name is highlighted. How do I do that?
A: Subject Highlighting is a Tempest feature. You use it by typing the first few letters of someones name followed by a ":." For example If I am talking to Paikuhan I would type Pai: and It would come out as (Paikuhan): in bright colors.

Q: I am having troubles with Tempest. "Blank" doesnt work right/at all.
A: Sometimes a the program runs into a snag. The best way to fix some of it is to re-unzip Tempest-12 (or higher) or re download it. The most common problems are: Aero Jukebox not working or not there at all, No command window when you right click, WB messages dont work, and no subject highlighting.

If you have any more trouble email oak-x@hotmail.com or talk to any of the Ops in chat.

For chat support you can join #services and #firc for help from the freedomirc system operators.
