Stingrays addition brings Elite League to Ten

News posted: 23-06-2006

The Board of Directors of the Elite Ice Hockey League are delighted to confirm the addition of the Hull Stingrays for the forthcoming 2006/07 season.

Elite League Chairman Eamon Convery commented, “The league has been looking to progressive expansion and the submission tabled by Mike and Sue Pack on behalf of the Stingrays is an excellent fit for us. With the league now at ten teams, we are able to offer an enhanced regular season schedule and will include a revised post-season playoff structure this season.”

From the Stingrays perspective, Mike Pack noted, “Our business plans going forward encouraged our approach to the Elite League and we’re delighted that those plans and our enthusiasm have been accepted. Now, we’re looking forward to building the team in readiness for the playing challenges ahead.”

Sue Pack added, “The public of Hull love their live sport and with the club moving up into the Elite League, we know the fans too will relish the challenge of supporting the team at the highest level of the game in this country.”

An Elite League spokesperson concluded, “Along with the return of Manchester, the addition of the Hull Stingrays brings the complement of teams to ten. Playing three times against each other – home and away – the regular league season will see 27 home games per club. With the exact format of cup competitions and a revised post-season playoff format to be finalised, ice hockey fans across the country can look forward to a terrific season of fast, all-action ice hockey.”
