The Joni Mitchell Discussion List (JMDL) The Joni Mitchell Discussion List (JMDL) is a vibrant, worldwide email community of about 800 individuals. Founded on August 30, 1996, the JMDL has a reputation for honest and thought-provoking conversation. The JMDL is unmoderated and free to join. Do you want a taste of what the Discussion List is all about before subscribing? Read through a couple of the discussion threads that have been deemed worthy of compilation by members:
"Electricity" discussion - [compiled by Lori Fye] As a new subscriber, you will receive an "info" message, outlining the policies, procedures, and etiquette of the list. You can read that message here if you wish further information before subscribing. You have four options when subscribing to the Joni Mitchell Discussion List. Please note that each method gives you the same messages, only the frequency and format are different. The JONI-DIGEST list: (59% of the members choose this option) This method collects each and every post, then sends 20-25 posts out to you as one email message - a digest. Most people find that the digest version is, at least initially, the easiest method to handle. The onlyJONI-DIGEST list (Lightest volume): (25% of the members choose this option) Often, the conversation on the list drifts to topics not specifically related to Joni. This method collects each and every post - EXCEPT those with a special "No Joni Content" (NJC) tag in the subject line - then sends 20-25 posts out to you as one email digest. With this option, you will not receive any messages that the author has deemed of NJC. This is the lowest volume method. JONI list (Heaviest volume!): (11% of the members choose this option) This method sends you each and every post individually - regardless of content - as soon as they are posted to the list. At this point, the list has a moderate volume of posts - about 10-25 per day. This method is the heaviest volume of all four options and is for the serious Joni fan! The onlyJONI list: (4% of the members choose this option) This method sends you each and every post individually - EXCEPT those with a special "No Joni Content" tag in the subject line - as soon as they are posted to the list. This option is best for those who are more interested in timely Joni information than off-topic discussions.
