Royals Too Good For Lillywhites
Sunday, May 20
It took Meath 27 minutes to break away from Kildare in the opening half with a fisted goal from veteran full-back Darren Fay ensuring the Royals took a 1-3 to 0-3 lead and although Kildare made a comeback, Colm Coyle's side still held a 1-4 to 0-5 interval advantage.
Meath's Stephen Bray and Peadar Byrne were in fine form in the second half and a Joe Sheridan goal ten minutes from the end from the penalty spot ensured daylight between the sides at 2-11 to 0-8.
Although Kildare defender Emmet Bolton did get a goal back four minutes later, it was too little too late as Meath advanced to the next round.
