Festivities of International Nanotechnology Week to Continue even when nanoTX’07 Comes to a Close on Thursday, 4 October.

With the nanoTX’07 Conference & Expo being the main attraction, other events are being organized to round out International Nanotechnology Week in Dallas.

Dallas, Texas, September 27, 2007. Since the nanoTX’07 Conference & Expo makes up only two days of observance celebrations (3 and 4 October), other events are springing up to fill out International Nanotechnology Week.

The most popular networking affair in the nanotechnology community, the invitation-only Nobel Laureate Legends evening, on the night before nanoTX’07 opens, is back at the Dallas Convention Center on Tuesday, 2 October, between 5 and 7 p.m. This year, the exciting main event is the Buckyball Discovery Team Reunion with Robert Curl, Harry Kroto and Sean O’Brien. There will also be a memorial for the late Alan MacDiarmid given by his close friend at UTD, Dr. Ray Baughman.

Now a fourth event had been added in addition to the Expo, Conference, and Nobel evening, another networking event at show closing that is destined to become as popular as the others – the Pegasus Nano-Round-Up Celebration -- organized by SOLAS Associates and the MIT Enterprise Forum of Dallas-Fort Worth. The event already enjoys the backing of early-adopter sponsors Symphony Arlington, the National RFid Center, Tipperary Inn, & Trinity Hall Irish Pub and will plug-in just as the lights for nanoTX’07 switch off at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at the DCC. Exhibitors will be able to invite speakers, business associates and other guests to the heart of Dallas: Pegasus Plaza, long been recognized as the symbol of Dallas and her indomitable spirit. Located in the heart of downtown, Pegasus Plaza at City Center features a hot spring fountain. “This event makes the perfect end-cap to the exciting conference and expo,” said nanoTX General Manager Richard Mason, “just the kind of networking event to really put the polish on International Nanotechnology Week.”

At close of the Expo on Thursday, exhibitors and their guests will make their way down the street to the IRON CACTUS Mexican Grill & Margarita Bar at 1520 Main Street, a gorgeous 3-story restaurant whose windows and rooftop bar overlook the Plaza from the East Side (www.ironcactus.com). The Iron Cactus will be the official site of “An All-Nations Salute to Oklahoma as Big as Texas”, with keynote Conference speaker and Oklahoma’s Speaker of the House Lance Cargill, in attendance, leading an Oklahoma delegation that includes the Executive and Program Directors of the Oklahoma Center for Advanced Science Technology (OCAST).

Joining them is a starred array of entrepreneurs and civic & business leaders -- from both sides of the Red River and from all corners of the globe. 2007 is the Centennial Year for Oklahoma, so what better opportunity to come by and brag on them a spell? Guests will find Burnt Orange fans and Texans of all colors, to make this Dallas night into the biggest event on our Sooner neighbor’s Centennial calendar.

And the night itself is less than 48 hours away from the OU – UT Shootout at the Cotton Bowl in Fair Park…. An informal international fashion show, a joint announcement by the Dallas Cup International Youth Soccer Tournament and the DFW Irish community for the St. Patrick’s Week 2008 competition, and a few international dance steps by celebrity evening participants will also be part of the salute. As the evening warms up, we’ll step right across the street to Sol Irlandés around 6 p.m. to cheer on enchanting little Irish dancers who are in training mode for major charity event later in the month at Cityplace that is being organized by event wunderkind Kristine Schwope, CEO of Class Act Creative.

The Salute officially ends at 7 p.m. but leaving will be hard, as nanoTX’07 guests find in the center of the Main Street entertainment district, which is full of fun places like Swirll Winery to engage your friends for the rest of the night. Also, Neiman-Marcus’ famous Main Street flagship store is open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
