Andy Kindler

Comedian

Originally from New York City, Andy Kindler now makes his home in Los Angeles where he has earned the reputation as the quintessential comic’s comic.

His observations of the comedy scene, network, studios, casting directors, producers and even his comic peers have spawned the image of a fearless truth-sayer who questions the sanity of the show business industry.

His now-infamous article for National Lampoon called "The Hack Handbook" took comedians to task for being predictable and taking the intellectual low-road. Rather than infuriating his fellow comics, it elevated Andy to local folk hero.

Various writing assignments followed, including a stint as segment producer/sketch player on Fox’s now-defunct "Comic Strip Live". From 1992 on, Andy made countless appearances on A & E, VH1, MTV, Fox and Comedy Central.

He earned a spot on the 1992 HBO "Young Comedians Special" hosted by Dana Carvey, but it was 1993 that proved to be Andy’s break-out year. With a performance on "The Arsenio Hall Show" as well at the "Montreal Just for Laughs Festival" resulting in a Showtime special called "Comedy from the Danger Zone".

Andy has become a fixture on Comedy Central as a host for various specials, a panelist on "The News Hole" and "For Comics Only," a guest on Dr. Katz and "Politically Incorrect," and a stand-up on "The A-List," "Comedy Product," "Two Drink Minimum" and "Comic Cabana."

In 1995, Andy shot his own pilot for the network called "Andytown," U.S.A. Perpetuating his non-conformist stance, he appeared as himself on HBO’s "Larry Sanders Show," and has performed on "Late Night with Conan O’Brien" and "The Late Show with David Letterman".

Andy co-starred in the 1996 Universal pilot, "The Breaks" and currently appears on CBS’s "Everybody Loves Raymond". His "State of the Industry Address" has become a standing-room only yearly event at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival.

After hosting a season of "The Pet Shop with Andy Kindler" for Animal Planet, Andy was a series regular (in cartoon form) on fX’s "Dick & Paula Celebrity Special " and as the host of "Real Time with Andy Kindler" on TNT.

He was a series regular on "Raising Dad," a sitcom created by Jonathan Katz for the WB.
