Former Tiller Patient Tells of Her Coerced Late-Term Abortion

Michelle Armesto Berge, a former Tiller patient, told a Kansas legislative committee about the late-term abortion she had on 13 May 2003. Michelle tells how her mother forced her to have the abortion and how Tiller's staff never had her fill out paperwork because she arrived late. She never provided a medical reason for the very late-term abortion, and the pregnancy was ruled "unviable"... unable to survive outside the womb... even though she was 26 weeks (7-1/2 moths) pregnant at the time. Kansans for Life secures Grand Jury Investigation of Tiller

A grand jury will be impaneled to investigate whether Tiller has performed illegal late-term abortions. Kansans for Life, a Pro-Life group, secured over 7,000 signatures on their petition to secure a grand jury investigation. This is almost three times as many as was required.

The grand jury has survived a legal challenge by Tiller's lawyers.

Tiller is Arraigned!

On 3 August 2007, Tiller was arraigned on 19 charges relating to illegal late-term abortion.
