?Australia comprises a land area of 7,682,300 square kilometres. The latitudinal distance between Cape York (the most northerly point of Australia) and South Point (the most southerly point on the mainland) is about 3,180 kilometres, while the latitudinal distance between Cape York and South East Cape, Tasmania, is 3,680 kilometres.

? The longitudinal distance between Steep Point and Cape Byron is about 4,000 kilometres.

? The area of Australia is almost as great as that of the United States of America (excluding Alaska), about 50 per cent greater than Europe (excluding the former USSR) and 32 times greater than the United Kingdom.?

Whenever we write a document for presentation for any subject, we have to be very careful to acknowledge the source of all the information. For instance, if we were to present a document that was to introduce facts and ideas about Australia, we would have indicated wherever we found them. We do this in two ways. Firstly, in the text we would have a brief piece of information that would refer to a works cited list at the end.

??We are from many countries

At 30 June 1997, 23.3 percent of Australia's population was born overseas. In addition to the 5 percent, who were Asian-born, 6.2 percent were born in the UK, 6.8 percent were born in Europe and 1.2 percent were born in the Middle East and North Africa.?

Secondly, there is the reference list with full citation details of all the sources of information I have used.

Have a look at the full details of how you set this out in full.

When we cite a book we put the author?s name and page number, with a web page the reference is slightly different. The information needed changes. The reference in the text is usually either an author or just the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) but in your reference list you need a lot more information including the date accessed as web sites change often.

When you use a picture, video or sound files you need to add a reference to the source of the files in the text. Then add full details in the works cited list at the end.

?It is very important that whether we quote directly or just use information or ideas we have read somewhere but do not actually quote, that we still say where we found the information.
