TIA (Tribhuwan International Airport)
The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), situated 5.56 km east of Kathmandu city is in the heart of the Kathmandu Valley. TIA is amid the confluence of three ancient cities viz. Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan, rich in their art and culture not only gifted for their temples and pagoda - but above all they posses smiling men and women, the pride of the nation. Hence TIA not only has flourished as the main hub for every expanding business of the country but has proudly catered to various domestic and international airlines.

TIA is the only international airport in Nepal to contribute to national economy in general and socioeconomic development of the entire country as more than 80% tourists enter Nepal by air through this airport. On the domestic scene, in 1991, when the country was poised for her entry to a liberalized aviation regime, 0.216 million passengers moved in and out of TIA. The number rose to 670076 in 1998, the year that marked the transformation of the then Department of Civil Aviation to CAAN, as an autonomous entity. Along the track of increasing trend, TIA's experience of embarking and disembarking 1.02 million passengers in 2005 as of November accounts for a 17% increase over the previous year that saw 0.876 million passenger movement. Aircraft movement too has been impressively grown with an estimate of over 68000 aircraft movements compared to 66471 movements recorded for the year 2004.
