The Deben Family Centre

The Deben Family Centre became part of the Seckford Foundation in 1999 and is situated at Cedar House, Pytches Road, Woodbridge.

The Deben Family Centre aims to encourage families in the local community in the nurturing, protection and education of young children.

Monday 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
Tuesday 9.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Wednesday 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
Thursday 9.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Friday 9.00 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.

  4. Enables parents to develop skills and confidence through sharing responsibilities for their group.

  7. Integrates families with special needs into the group.
  8. Furthers equal opportunities.
  9. Eases the transition from home to school.

Services offered by the Deben Family Centre:

Family Support Sessions

Tuesday and Thursday 9.30 a.m. to 11.45 a.m.
Monday and Wednesday 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.

Each family has an allocated Family Centre Keyworker to support them; a care plan is made with the family and the referrer, reviews are held after six weeks and then every three months. Keyworkers work in partnership with the families and other professionals. Keyworkers will attend meetings relevant to the family and provide reports for Core Groups, Initial/Review Child Protection Conferences etc.

Outreach Work

Families with school age children can be referred to the Family Centre for individual work, eg ascertaining wishes and feelings, behaviour management etc. This work can be done either at the Centre or in the family home.

Assessment of Parenting Skills

Staff can, by appointment undertake in depth Parenting Assessments and provide detailed reports.


Deben Family Centre facilitates Contact sessions for children and their families/parents/carers. This includes taking room bookings, providing a venue, toys/equipment and refreshments.

Community Parent and Toddler Group

Wednesday 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.

This is a very well attended, successful group. Parents must stay and are responsible for their own children. This session is run by volunteers and is self-funding.

Group Work

The Family Centre organises groups for parents, often in partnership with other organisations eg Community Education, Health Visitors, and Social Care Services. The Deben Family Centre provides the venue and appropriate childcare for the children.

It also has a Children's Clothes Swap-Shop, Baby Equipment Loan Scheme and Toy Library
