Complementing St Clare's academic work is an extensive program of pastoral care. This involves Year 7 to 12 tutorial groupings that remain together throughout their years at the College. This provides a peer support program to help students move through the various transitions from primary school to Year 7, from the junior to the senior school. It also helps to foster school spirit.
The vertical Tutorial Group involves each student being assigned to a tutorial team for their particular House. There are five Tutorial Groups and a House Coordinator for each House. The four houses are Claverie, Reid, Keady and Deakin.
The House Dean co-ordinates and monitors with other teachers and the counselor, the wellbeing and behavior of students and works closely with parents as part of the ongoing management of student care.
The Merit Award System is an important part of the overall pastoral care program, which reinforces and rewards positive student effort and behavior and contribution to the life of the school community.
There are also effective student discipline policies based on fair, consistent and meaningful practices to assist students to become better people and constructive members of the community.
The Babicci Shield also seeks to foster and encourage school spirit and build camaraderie between students. The Shield is awarded annually to the House that accumulates the most points for school involvement.
