Letter From Eddie

Dear Joe and Eddie fans,

I would first like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful emails you have sent and to say I intend to answer each and every one. It is both joyous and humbling to know you have enjoyed this music for so long and have shared it with your family and friends. Joe would be pleased. I know some of you have wondered what I have been doing all these years, so as briefly as I can, I will try to bring you up to date.

After Joe’s tragic death, I worked as a single in L.A. and for a short while, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Although I enjoyed performing, I found it frustrating to keep a band together and it was during this time I started writing, something I had never done before. Eventually I moved back to L.A., where I began to spend a lot of time in the studio, fortunately, with some of the greatest producers in popular music: Gene McDaniels, Louis Shelton, Richard Perry, Thom Bell, and Quincy Jones. I will be forever indebted to these wonderful, talented people. Because of them I found my next calling, writing and producing music. Performing went to the back burner.

Over the years I have collaborated on more than 150 songs and worked with some of the best artists and musicians in the world. Among them are three people I have stayed involved with for more than 25 years. They are the members of the group, GRAVITY: Clydene Jackson, vocals and keyboards, Harold Payne, vocals and guitar, and my brother, Oliver C. Brown, percussion. Over the years we have hung together through life’s ups and downs and I have truly come to love and respect these people.

Two years ago, someone came into our lives who made it possible for us to record under the best circumstances to date. His name is Nils and he is one of the most talented people I have met in my 45 plus years in the music business. He is a writer, producer, engineer, and artist. I think he is the best guitarist to come on the scene in a very long time. Check out his latest release, “Pacific Coast Highway”. It’s great!

Nils and I are currently producing GRAVITY’S next CD and we think it’s going to be a special record. So stay tuned and please continue to visit our website for more information regarding all our activities.

The very best to you all,

Eddie Brown
