Club charter

Saints are breaking new ground with the launch of their latest Supporter Charter.

The 12-page document has already won praise from the Football League as "an outstanding example of best practice" and it seems set to become the model for other clubs to follow.

It goes further than any previous club charter, reinforcing Saints' ongoing commitment to giving their supporters the best possible service, not just on matchdays but throughout the year.

The fan-friendly document contains a series of pledges in key areas of customer-service as Saints aim to cement their position as one of the most proactive and forward-thinking clubs in the game.

The Supporter Charter will focus on:

PRICE - We will endeavour to ensure our pricing policies reflect our league status and that we are sensibly priced to encourage maximum supporter attendance.

STAFF - We will endeavour to produce well trained and motivated members of staff who will show complete pride in working for the Club and who openly show enthusiasm for the task in hand.

COMMUNITY - We will continue to engage the local communities within which we sit, to help improve the lives of as many individuals and groups as possible, using football as a power of good.

HOSPITALITY - We will continue to provide an array of choice to try and provide an entry level for any supporter.

MERCHANDISE - Our policy will be clear and open to ensure supporters know when they can buy their products and for how long they will be valid.

HEALTH AND SAFETY - This is a key area for supporters and staff alike. Fans can expect to deal with stewards who are courteous, well-informed and trained or training to meet the highest standards and qualifications.

ENVIRONMENT - We will do our utmost to be environmentally-friendly and continue to provide multiple-transport options for fans to travel to home games including free bus tickets, reducing the need for cars.

FEEDBACK - We guarantee that any comment or complaint will receive a response within seven days of receipt.

Saints commercial director Andy Oldknow said: "The fans are the heart and soul of this club and this charter is another major step to show how much we value them. We believe this document is one of the most ambitious in football and it sets in stone our desire to put supporters' needs at the heart of the business.

"Its aim is to add value where possible and create a service culture throughout the Club to ensure that fans of any age, sex or race get the best possible experience."

Andy Williamson, Chief Operating Officer at The Football League said: "Southampton FC's new 'Supporters Charter' is an outstanding example of best practice in the increasingly important area of customer service.

"The Charter outlines the club's desire to give supporters a first rate experience at Saints' matches as well as the contribution it makes to the local community.

"The Football League would like to commend the Club for this initiative and wish it every success in implementing the range of commitments made in this progressive and important document."
