Fall 2007 Board of Directors Election 

On September 20th, 2007 the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences will hold an election for two positions on the Board of Directors. The list of nominees is comprised of many leaders within the Academy membership:

  • Anthony Borquez, Vice President Online & Mobile Business Development, Konami Digital Entertainment
  • Alexander L. Fernandez, Chief Executive Officer, Streamline Studios B.V.
  • Vikas Gupta, President & CEO, TransGaming Technologies
  • Tim Langdell, Chairman, EDGE Games – currently serving on the board
  • Eric Peterson, President & CEO, Vicious Cycle Software, Inc.
  • Jeff Pobst, Founder & CEO, Hidden Path Entertainment
  • Josh Resnick, President, Pandemic – currently serving on the board
  • Chris Swain, Professor, USC School of Cinematic Arts
  • Raj Thiagarajan, Chief Busniess Development Officer, Philips amBX
  • Sutton Trout, Vice President Digital Content/Professional Services, IGN Entertainment Inc./Fox Interactive Media
  • Patricia Vance, President, ESRB
  • Doug Whatley, Founder & CEO, BreakAway, Ltd.

These member-elected directors will participate in all Academy board of director-level decisions, serve on board committees, and directly represent the voice of membership within the Academy. Participation as an Academy board member provides opportunity to help build the organization to serve the needs and interests of its members.

Members will be notified via email when voting begins.  This email will contain instructions on how to log in and vote via our secure voting website.  Members may vote for no more than two individuals.  Winners will be announced on October 1st.

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, in conjunction with IDG, is happy to announce that Academy members will receive complimentary registration to the E For All Expo taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center on October 18th through October 21st.

Game Deconstruction Group: Maple Story and Club Penguin

With online gaming achieving a firm foothold on the current console generation, people all across the interactive entertainment industry are recognizing the appeal and impact that online multiplayer experiences have on consumers.  There is something about hopping online and joining an epic raid, taking other racers on head-to-head, or engaging in tournaments of skill with challengers from around the world which strikes a chord in many gamers.  It is for this reason that the Game Deconstruction Group kicked-off its third year to examine two highly successful but lesser known facets of the online gaming market: Nexon's Maple Story and New Horizon Interactive's Club Penguin.
