I’ll be on the road to California, the Bay Area to visit Adobe in San Jose, go to the Wine Spectator Wine Experience and do Greg Gorman’s Digital Photographic Workshop in Mendocino…oh yeah, then I’ll be in Phoenix (well, ok actually Chandler) AZ for the Epson Print Academy. Busy couple of weeks! And, if that’s not enough I’ll also be joining Martin Evening, Seth Resnick and Andrew Rodney (and a few thousand other photographers) for PhotoPlus Expo in New York City.
Needless to say, the amount of posts on PhotoshopNews might be a little light.

When we as an industry set out to create a beautiful ad, we tend to sometimes let our creativity and this thing called Photoshop run amock. Clearly demonstrating this penchant and fixation for beautifying everything in our path is this Dove commercial - created by Ogilvy Toronto and produced by Reginald Pike - in which an average looking woman is, first, subjected to intense physical makeover and then intense digital makeover turning her into the very familiar but very unreal woman we see gracing the pages of magazines and as subject matter for our advertising.
Editor’s note: Ironically, the digital make-over part of the commercial doesn’t look like it was actually done in Photoshop-at least no version of Photoshop we’ve ever seen. So, it seems even the digital imaging was digitally imaged to avoid using the Photoshop interface.

A French IT consultant says yes, but productivity experts disagree
Source: ComputerWorld

Providing employees with 30-in. computer monitors can boost worker productivity at companies where 17- or 19-in. monitors are typically used, according to a French consultant hired for a study sponsored by Apple Computer Inc.
The study, which evaluated Apple’s 30-in. Apple Cinema Display, concluded that large screens can offer gains of up to 50% to 65% in productivity on a variety of specific office tasks and can earn back their extra costs in time savings over several years. The 30-in. display costs $1,999.

Project: Photoshop Lightroom with photographer Colin Finlay and Adobe’s Julieanne Kost recently visited the College of DuPage in suburban Chicago. Over the course of two days, students and faculty heard a lecture by Finlay in which he shared his career as a photographer and Adobe’s Senior Evangelist Julieanne Kost, provided students with in-depth seminars on using Photoshop and Lightroom to support a digital workflow.
The second day also comprised a small group of photo students participating with Finlay in a photo shooting assignment. Students selected images from this assignment to be placed into a portfolio and then uploaded to the Project: Photoshop Lightroom site for sharing with the extended community.
Since it was in my general neck of the woods, I drove out to the college to see what was going on (and shoot some snaps).

According to The Business News Source, Apple and Adobe are at war. Which comes as a bit of a shock to people I know at both companies.
The Business News Source, which bills itself as “a free and impartial review of global business news” obviously isn’t all that concerned with “getting it right”.

According to Uncyclopedia, Photoshop is a verb to describe the action of modifying an image with computer software, usually MS Paint.
Photoshop can be used to make very convincing modifications to photographs. In this example, several team members have been removed. See if you can guess which ones!
