Downie Gets 20 Games

Steve Downie

The National Hockey League has handed down its verdict on the Flyers' Steve Downie. Colin Campbell, the NHL's Executive Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations, has suspended the 20-year-old prospect for 20 games for his hit on Ottawa Senators forward Dean McAmmond in Thursday's exhibition game between the two teams. The 20 games is the fifth longest suspension handed down by the league.

Ovechkin and Capitals beat Flyers

Alex Ovechkin scored two goals and had two assists, including on the game-winner from Tomas Fleischmann, as the Washington Capitals scored five straight third-period goals to beat the Philadelphia Flyers 7-5 on Friday night.

Lupul day-to-day with sprained wrist

Philadelphia Flyers forward Joffrey Lupul has a sprained left wrist and will be day-to-day.
