Brief

Launching PhotoK.K.I.P. Sdn. Bhd. is a wholly owned company of the State Government of Sabah, through the Chief Minister Incorporated.Administratively, it is under the purview of the Ministry of Industrial Development. It was incorporated in February 1994 as a subsidiary of the Sabah Ecenomic Development Corporation. The then Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad launched KKIP on Nov 2, 1995 The Company develops and manages the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) which is envisaged to spreadhead industrialization in Sabah. The park is located 25km north of the central business district of Kota Kinabalu, and 5km from the deep-sea Sapangar Bay Container Port. It is designed as a self-contained, fully-integrated industrial park to exploit Sabah's comparative advantages such as the availability of raw materials (timber, palm oil, crude petroleum,cocoa, etc) and strategic location within BIMP-EAGA.

The concept of KKIP is to integrate the development of industrial, commercial, residential, properties with training and research institutions, schools and public administration centres, recreation, leisure and tourism areas and other public amenities. These integrated approach will create a enviroment-friendly, livable industrial township.

As of December 2006, the Park has 104 operating establishments including 94 factories, three utility companies and eight institutions of training, research and development. These establishments have invested over RM805 million and employ 3,409.

The Project Concept

The KKIP project is being developed in a comprehensive scheme;

Commercial / trading activities, industrial / manufacturing activities, residential areas, training and research institution areas, corporate and public administration centres, recreation and tourism areas, and other public amenities and services to cater for a conducive environment where the residents and visitors can work, rest and recreate harmoniously, and;

A well-planned and efficient infrastructure system
