April 9, 2006 (ABUJA) — Intensive talks involving two African heads of state who tried to bring the warring parties from Sudan’s Darfur region closer to a peace agreement failed to produce any tangible results, participants said on Sunday.
Peace talks between the Sudanese government and two rebel groups have been going on for almost two years and the current round, the seventh, has dragged on in a small hotel on the outskirts of the Nigerian capital since November 29.

Oct 8, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — The European Union foreign policy chief said he was confident Sudan was executing a southern peace deal after his first meeting with a new coalition government on Saturday.

KHARTOUM, March 29, 2005 (Xinhua) — The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) will send a delegation to Khartoum on Wednesday prior to implementation of a peace agreement it signed with the government in January, the Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) reported on Tuesday.

Sudan announces names of 112 Sudanese POWs to be released

KHARTOUM, March 16 (AFP) — A Sudanese government body said on Wednesday it had made arrangements for the return of 112 government soldiers held as prisoners of war by the southern rebel movement during the civil war in southern Sudan.
