LA Times Features Nancy Cartwright's Whimsical Country Home

In a September 13th article from the L.A. Times, staff writer David Keeps takes us on a tour of voice actress Nancy Cartwright's home in Northridge, California. Included with the story is a nice photo gallery, giving readers a visual of Cartwright's "inner girly girl" evident throughout her home decorated in pink, roses, and whimsical items, all with a country charm.

And speaking of The Simpsons voice actors' homes, The Real Estalker is reporting that Dan Castellaneta has put his 5 bedroom, 3,891 sqft. Santa Monica home up for sale. The listing price? $3,295,000.
ASIFA Uncovers Rare Mel Blanc Gem

The ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Archive Project Blog has posted a 25-minute recording of a speech given by legendary voice actor Mel Blanc at the 1966 Annual Awards Luncheon of the Station Representatives Association.

This rare gem, titled "Mel Blanc Takes A Humorous Look At Commercials: Past, Present and Future (Who The Hell Is Mel Blanc?)", was ripped from an LP pressed by Blanc's company, Mel Blanc Associates. It gives an amusing, informative peek into the advertising industry that Blanc also dabbled in.

Nancy Cartwright to Host Charity Event

Nancy Cartwright will be hosting a semi-formal Texas Hold ‘Em tournament and Monte Carlo Night at her home on Saturday, September 29th. The event, which benefits the Devonshire Police Activities League Supporters (PALS), is open to the public and requires a $500 entry fee.

NC Community College offers Voiceover Class

Blue Ridge Community College (of Flat Rock, NC) will offer Introduction to Voiceovers on Monday August 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Patton Building Room 151. The registration fee is $34.

In this interactive class, students will explore the voiceover industry, types of voiceovers, the importance of a demo tape, and other details on how to become a professional voiceover artist. Each student will also be coached while making a recording for a personal evaluation. The course will be taught by Mike Elmore, an instructor for 10 years with the company Voices for All.

CNN.com has an article today on how voice actors are using Internet sites like Voices.com, Voices123.com, and CommercialVoices.com to assist them in finding work without the need of an agent. Some fear this new phenomena is also saturating the market. The article features North Carolina-based voice actress Kara Edwards (Dragon Ball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho), as well as Maureen Egan and Michiru Yabu.
