Cottbus swoop for Croat
Thursday Jan 18 2007 11:24

Energie Cottbus have boosted their squad with the signing of Croatian defender Mario Cvitanovic from Dinamo Zagreb.

The 31-year-old has signed an 18-month contract with the BUndesliga club after being allowed to leave Dinamo on a free transfer.

Cottbus managing director Steffen Heidrich commented: "He is exactly the man we were looking for and given his experience, he is going to help us a lot."

Cvitanovic is the second new arrival at Cottbus this month, with former Kaiserslautern and Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Ervin Skela having returned to Germany from Italian side Ascoli.

Another man on the move in Germany is Egypt attacker Mohamed Zidan, who has left Werder Bremen to rejoin Mainz, where he impressed while on loan last season.
