Breaking News: Reyes Passes Atletico Madrid Medical Real Madrid have officially lost out on Jose Antonio Reyes. The long drawn saga is finally at an end, with the winger completing his medical at the Vicente Calderon this evening.
Jose Antonio Reyes is a rojiblanco.

The player is on the verge of formally signing a four-year contract with Atletico Madrid after passing a medical at the Vicente Calderon.

According to Radio Marca, the player is now a confirmed part of the Atletico squad, and will be formally unveiled by the rojiblanco management at 10:00am local time on Tuesday.

Reyes, after his unveiling, will travel to the Netherlands to join his new squadmates: with Atleti having successfully negotiated their way past Gloria in the Intertoto Cup, they are now enjoying a late pre-season break in Holland.

The troubled Arsenal star will be relieved to have finally left the Emirates, where he arrived in 2003. Despite some good performances, he was visibly unhappy in London, and enjoyed a spell at Real Madrid on loan last season.

Los Merengues were poised to make Reyes' switch permanent, but Marca reports that Atletico's offer was so superior to Real Madrid's that Arsenal only accepted the former.

Reyes earlier declared himself delighted with the prospect of a return to the Spanish capital - albeit for his last club's arch-rivals.
