Health Videos & Features What Are the Different Types of Headaches?
Headaches affect almost everyone, but there are different types including tension headaches, cluster headaches and migraine headaches. There are many headache triggers ranging from stress and changing hormone levels to diet or weather changes. Each headache has different characteristics. Cluster headaches can be painful and feature nasal stuffiness. Migraines can be accompanied by nausea and create visual auras while tension headaches can have throbbing pain. Treating headaches can be done with medication including triptans, which are the new class of drugs for migraines. Relaxation techniques, caffeine and caffeine-containing analgesics have been seen as an effective way to deal with migraines and some tension headaches.
