These seven Massachusetts guys know how to make even dire moments sound like a hot party. On their sixth album, fiddle, mandolin and other Gaelic accouterments adorn rave-ups like “The State of Massachusetts,” reminding you they're a punk band with a Celtic twist. They're also songwriters -- and good ones, too, preserving their party-boy reputation while turning out giant, soulful choruses on songs both manicured and memorable: Dig tunefully sotted jams like “Tomorrow's Industry,” which sounds like the best Rancid song in several years.

Having anticipated this album since rumors of its conception began circulating, I was afraid that I may have gotten my hopes up too much and set myself up for a let-down. I was not disappointed. "The Meanest of Times" showcases DKM's growth as a band both musically and lyrically. Their song 'God Willing' 'The State of Massachusetts' and others still contain the recurring themes of trajety that can tear a family apart, while still making them sound ready to rock all night long. "The Meanest of Times" is a triumph.

HA! Best rancid song in years; I like that. I've listened to this Cd about 58 times since I DL it a few weeks ago. I'm stoked to go buy it tomorrow. I was sitting in my car listening to smoke or fire and thinking that I am so sick of the kids right now. I've listened to The new bad religion way to much, and I'm over the whole deal right now. I put my iPOD in the console for about a week and drove in silence. Then I got this little ditty of an album, and well, I gotta be honest- its amazing! I could go on and on, but instead, just go buy it. A 16 song punk album with a wikid bonus cover of thin lizzies jailbreak? god dammit its worth every American cent I wont have to spend in Canadia!
