J.R.’s Sooner BBQ Pigskin Report (From OUinsider.com)

October 5th, 2007

When I sat down to write last week’s column it was obvious that I did not feel overly confident about the Sooners being a 22-point favorite on the road at Boulder. I spoke of the Colorado defense being considered one of the Big 12’s three best units and wondered out loud where the OU player’s mindset would be for the Big 12 Conference opener.

I did not think OU would cover the spread, for those that keep up with that facet of the game, but I sure as heck did not think that Oklahoma would lose. I predicted the Sooners to win by a 28-10 score. That’s another reason I don’t gamble. I even mentioned on a national radio interview that I felt more comfortable about going to Dallas this week than I did heading to the Rocky Mountains last week.

J.R.’s Superstar of the Week - John Cena (From WWE.com)

October 5th, 2007

Greetings from under the 200X, black Resistol hat from WWE’s resident barbecue lover, who is still reeling from the Oklahoma Sooners’ upset loss at Colorado, and closer to home, the loss of now-former WWE Champion John Cena due to a torn pectoral muscle tendon that may sideline him for up to one year.

History will be made this Sunday in Chicago at No Mercy when a new WWE Champion will be crowned. But the larger question looming will be who will be in the main event? Randy Orton had earned the distinction of challenging Cena and should obviously be a participant, one would assume. But who would face Orton? Will there be one opponent selected or will this match turn into a contest with multiple participants, such as a Triple Threat Match or a Fatal Four Way Match?

October 3rd, 2007

Thanks for checking out our site here on another busy week. Business is booming at J.R.’s Family Bar-B-Q in Norman, Oklahoma as we had one of our biggest weeks to date last week. This week we were on a “wait” Monday for lunch and dinner, which is pretty amazing for so early in the week.

J.R.'s CookbookAs I mentioned on the last blog I wrote, our autographed cookbooks are selling hot and heavy and we are shipping them out essentially within hours of receiving your order. We think that they will make great gift ideas for the holidays and hope that you do too.

Tough trip out to Boulder, Colorado last week after the WWE 24/7 taping, which was a blast by the way, as I arrived in Denver on Friday afternoon to prepare to drive to Boulder Saturday for the Sooners vs. the Buffalos. CU outplayed OU and won an exciting game on a last second field goal as many of you may have seen on TV. My hat is off to the Buffs for playing such an inspirational game. Bar-B-Qed Feedback Time:

Sam- Your opinion of what you perceived occured at the end of the HBK-Cena match is welcomed. I don’t remember what occurred nor have I taken the time to go back and review it. I only remember the match for exceeding my expectations and not for anything else.

Mr. Monster- I still get excited walking into the arena and enjoy taking a walk around the ring while the arena is empty. The day I stop looking forward to simply seeing the ring sitting in front of me will be the day I need to become the full time “Baron of Bar-B-Q”. Read the rest of this entry »
