Frank Otis, a 6-6 shooting guard/small forward from Oakland, Calif., said he has orally committed to play basketball at SMU.

Women's soccer team loses Big 12 opener
In Columbia, Missouri, Kristin Andrighetto scored with less than a minute left in the second overtime to lift Missouri to a 3-2 upset of Texas A&M; in the Big 12 opener for both teams.

Mustangs tie Tulsa in men's soccer
Chris Clement's goal in the 88th minute lifted No. 18 Tulsa to a 2-2 tie with No. 8 SMU in Tulsa, Okla., to open the Conference USA season. Ben Shuleva scored both goals for the Mustangs (4-2-2).

Texas running back Jamaal Charles has a pair of burnt orange Nikes specially designed by a cousin. But the only footsteps he's trying to follow belong to his older brother, ShanDerrick. Die-hard SMU fans remember that name.
