Wii, Xbox 360 sales up; PS3 down at Ebay

Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 increased while sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 decreased on Thurs. in the latest sales data from Ebay.

Wii held a 10 percent increase in sales volume in the past two weeks from a 12 percent increase the week prior. The latest Nintendo system ranks as the No. 1 Most Popular video game hardware on Ebay and carries an average sale price of $396.50.

The Xbox 360 Premium held a five percent increase from an increase of six percent the week prior. The Xbox successor ranks as the No. 2 Most Popular game hardware on Ebay and carries an average sale price of $295.87.

Additionally, the Xbox 360 Core System held an 18 percent increase in sales in the same period. It ranks as the No. 5 Most Popular game hardware with an average sale price of $246.78.

The PS3 held a four percent decline in sales, down from a zero percent change the week prior. The Blu-ray equipped hardware ranks as the No. 3 Most Popular game hardware and carries an average sale price of $434.48.

Ebay’s latest sales data reflects the current U.S. hardware market tally. In July, Nintendo’s Wii sold 425,000 to rank as the No. 1 best-selling game hardware in the U.S. By comparison, the Xbox 360 sold 170,000 units and the PS3 sold 159,000 in the same sales period.
