So here's this
brilliant plan I came up with some time ago to help raise funds for the
POAC during the quarterly fund drives:
I'll offer a quarterly print newsletter that recaps the biggest stories
and media trends of the past four months, along with commentary from the
editor regarding the goings-on behind the scenes of the POAC. I'll do that
and make it available to our readers for two bucks a month. Surely that
would end the need for quarterly begging and the need to subsidize the
Project through my wife's paycheck, right? Wrongo Dongo! I've pushed it
and plugged it to no avail. Apparently 99% of our daily visitors don't
feel that the Project is worth supporting for 6 cents a day. Thousands of
visitors come to the site every day during the fundraiser and I can't
squeeze 2 bucks a month out of 99% of them. Are you fricken kiddin' me,
man?
Now keeping that in mind, answer this question:
How many years would you work in a job that you believed in with all of
your heart, but only paid 37 cents and hour. And that same job, because of
it's political leanings, also cost your wife her executive level job and
got her blacklisted in the industry that she worked in. And now, four
years later... her paycheck is still subsidizing your work. How many years
would you do that? I'm past 4 years now. 4 years, at less than 37 cents an
hour. 37 cents an hour that doesn't go to me as a salary, but rather right
back into the Project. And I can't get more than 2 percent of our daily
readers to toss in 2 bucks a month.
How long would you continue doing this?
My only thought on this is that maybe people don't want the mail, wasted
paper, or for us to accrue postage fees. If that's what's stopping you,
drop us an email if you subscribe letting us know that you'd rather
receive the quarterly in .pdf format via email and we'll happily do it for
you.
By the way, I finished 1/3 of the quarterly tonight and it's shaping up
pretty nicely. |

"As democracy is perfected, the office of
president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the
people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will
reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned
by a downright moron."
