One of the promises I’ve made here on Contest Blogger is that I’ll always look out for my readers and tell them if I don’t like a contest that’s submitted to us. Well this is one of them . . . not necessarily because the idea for the contest sucks, but because I don’t think you should trust the blogger who is running it:

Go check out Dax Desai dot com and take a look at his Feedburner subscription number: it says he has nearly 2,000 readers. That always makes me suspicious when I see such a high subscription number on a relatively new blog, so I checked it out and sure enough he’s stealing his Feedburner image from a blog called Net Business Blog. Here’s a link to Dax Desai’s real Feedburner chicklet, which shows his actual subscriber number at less than thirty.
(By the way, I’m sure Dax Desai will change his Feedburner chicklet as soon as he reads this, so I took the image above from his site for all of you to see.)
Make no mistake, this is totally the definition of thievery and lying. Bloggers work hard to get their subscription numbers up, and they are able to set advertising prices based on how high their readership is. When you steal your subscription numbers from another blog you are lying to your advertisers about how popular your blog is and misrepresenting yourself to the blogosphere. This little trick is easy to catch and there’s nothing funny about it. Stop being lazy and actually put in the work it requires to get a good readership, dude.
After Ashwin Khanna, you would think that bloggers would figure out that I’m going to call you out if you submit a contest to me and there’s anything dishonest about it. If this dude is going to lie about his reader numbers, he would probably lie about his contest, too. If you are a Contest Blogger reader, stay away from his blog.
