Blue October is here: Cubs versus the Arizona Diamondbacks
Mark Cuban says that if he succeeds in buying the Cubs, he'll be a billionaire bleacher bum not in the dugout. The Internet billionaire and Dallas Mavericks owner, known for noisily cheering on the Mavs and berating NBA officials from courtside, reiterated strong interest in owning the Cubs.

Cubs general manager Jim Hendry wouldn't tip his hand Sunday when asked what areas he'd like his team to improve on for 2008.

Cubs president John McDonough termed his feeling Sunday as "bittersweet." "I've sorted most of it out," McDonough said of the Cubs' 3-0 series loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League championship series. "We keep pushing on."

By the end of the second inning, Naperville resident Kris Hastings had reached her limit. The Cubs had fallen behind and she believed the TBS broadcasting crew was giddy about the Arizona Diamondbacks' lead.

Larry Rothschild admitted to some second thoughts. After the 2005 season, the Cubs pitching coach had a chance to join his former boss, Jim Leyland, in Detroit. He stayed with the Cubs, where he suffered through a last-place season in '06 while the Tigers headed to the World Series.
