Gabe Newell: PS3 is a Waste of Time
The co-founder of Valve has made no bones about it: he doesn't like the PS3. It isn't a "fanboy-ish" dislike, though, more related to the system's internal architecture and how he thinks it's a nightmare to program for. Valve is a mainstay PC developer, however, so things he says should be taken with a reasonable grain of salt.

Halo 3 Estimated to Boost September Software Sales 30% - Lazard
We won't know for sure until the data is out, but Lazard Capital Markets' Colin Sebastian is anticipating a 30 percent increase in software sales for September thanks to the hugely successful launch of Microsoft's Halo 3. He also expects Activision sales to remain quite strong.

PSP Slim Storms Japan, Wii Sales Drop in September
The PSP actually sold more than three times as much as the Wii in Japan during September as the new slim model and software like Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII drove sales. The Wii meanwhile saw a dip in sales, although Wii Sports did pass the 2 million units milestone.

Wideload Shorts Signs On to Develop for InstantAction.com
GarageGames previously told GameDaily BIZ that they had signed a number of well known devs for InstantAction.com. Now we've learned that the first is Wideload Shorts, which will launch a game called Cyclomite on the web-based game network early next year.

Halo 3 Success Bodes Very Well for GTA IV on Xbox 360 - Janco
Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey believes Microsoft shipped around 5.2 million copies of Halo 3 in its first week, but Take-Two's GTA IV could potentially fare even better. He thinks the game could ship between 6.2 - 9.5 million in its first week, possibly "producing an astonishing $466 million in sales."
