Malaysia International Gourmet Festival Wins Gold at PATA

KUALA LUMPUR July 30, 2007 - The Malaysian International Gourmet Festival (MIGF), organised and presented by AsiaReach Events Sdn Bhd, has won the prestigious PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) Gold Award for the best Marketing Campaign - Industry category.

In a congratulatory message to Dato' Steve Day, the organising chairman of MIGF, PATA president and CEO, Mr Peter de Jong, described the winning event as “maintaining the standards of excellence for which the Gold Awards have come to represent”. He said that the achievement was all the more impressive considering that the 2007 PATA Gold Awards attracted a record 339 entries from 132 organisations.

AsiaReach Events, a member of Dato' Steve Day's Vision Four Media Group, founded the KL International Gourmet Festival in 2001. The idea was to stimulate the country's nascent fine dining scene with the aim of increasing revenues for participating restaurants, raising standards in the country's F&B industry, recognising excellence and raising awareness for the country as a leading destination for international food tourism.

Held annually ever since, the festival is now firmly established as Malaysia's premier fine dining event. The event brings together Malaysia's top restaurants in a collective marketing effort. For a full month participating restaurants serve special festival menus offered to diners at special festival prices together with a host of special festival offers from both the restaurants themselves and from festival sponsorship partners.

In 2006 the Festival expanded to include restaurants from outside KL, for the first time-a move that was enthusiastically welcomed by the country's F&B industry. In addition to dining establishments from KL, restaurants from Putrajaya, Malacca, Genting and Langkawi also participated.

The title sponsor for MIGF2006 was Visa with other festival partners including Tourism Malaysia, Daimler Chrysler Malaysia, Fujifilm, Eurocopter and Carlsberg. Media partners included Astro, Vision Four, The Star, Lite FM, Moon FX, Vision KL and Seni Jaya.

The prestigious PATA Gold Award could not have come at a better time as AsiaReach Events prepares for MIGF 2007 which runs for the whole month of November and which has been listed by Tourism Malaysia as one of the top 50 events for Visit Malaysia Year 2007. This year a record 30 fine dining restaurants will be participating, more than even 2006.

PATA is one of the hospitality and tourism industry's most well regarded international organisations and the Gold awards are keenly contested for. Malaysia won four Gold Awards altogether with AsiaReach Events standing alongside triple winner, Tourism Malaysia, who won awards for their broadcast and print campaigns as well as their website. The awards ceremony will take place in Bali, Indonesia on 28 September.
