 Ricky Nolasco - S Oct. 10 - 1:35 pm et
Ricky Nolasco gave up two runs in two innings and struck out four Tuesday for the Peoria Saguaros of the AFL.
Nolasco needed special permission to play in Arizona because of his veteran status. The Marlins wanted him there after he missed so much of the season with elbow woes.
 Brett Sinkbeil - S Oct. 9 - 7:13 pm et
2006 first-round pick Brett Sinkbeil made his Hawaiian Winter League debut Monday and pitched four hitless innings.
Sinkbeil made only 14 starts for Single-A Jupiter this year before being shut down with elbow tendinitis. If healthy, he could be a factor for the Marlins in the second half of next year. He's likely to begin the season in Double-A.
 Anibal Sanchez - S Oct. 8 - 1:06 pm et
A meeting with Marlins management did not resolve a dispute over whether Anibal Sanchez was injured before or after his May 4 demotion to the minors.
Therefore, Sanchez's grievance will proceed according to plan. Sanchez, who underwent surgery for a torn labrum, believes he should receive the five months of salary and service time he would have earned had he been injured while in the majors. He originally reported shoulder woes in January, and his attempt to pitch through his problem in April came with awful results.

Hanley Ramirez - SS Oct. 3 - 10:19 pm et
Hanley Ramirez had arthroscopic surgery Wednesday to repair his injured left shoulder.
Ramirez has had to deal with the shoulder popping out of the joint a few times over the past couple of years. This should prevent that from happening in the future. He'll be ready for spring training.
 Dontrelle Willis - S Sep. 30 - 4:39 pm et
Dontrelle Willis combined with five relievers on a five-hitter as the Marlins knocked the Mets out of playoff contention with an 8-1 win on Sunday.
Willis struggled mightily with his command after the seven-run first, so he was pulled in the third having given up the only run. The bullpen was outstanding, allowing just two hits in 6 1/3 innings. Willis, who made 35 starts for the first time in his career, finished 10-15 with a 5.17 ERA.
Hanley Ramirez - SS Sep. 30 - 4:37 pm et
Hanley Ramirez went 0-for-4 with a walk while playing with a bruised hand Sunday against the Mets.
Ramirez likely would have had the day off under most circumstances, but he wanted in today after the bad blood that developed Saturday. He didn't have a great day, but he did walk to begin the seven-run first inning.
 Miguel Olivo - C Sep. 30 - 12:52 pm et
MLB suspended catcher Miguel Olivo five games for his actions in Saturday's game.
Olivo appealed, so he'll likely sit out at least the first few days of next season. There's a good chance he'll be on another team then, as the Marlins may prefer not to pay him another $2.5 million-$3 million.
 Miguel Cabrera - 3B Sep. 29 - 6:08 pm et
Marlins named Larry Beinfest president, baseball operations; Michael Hill vice president, general manager; Dan Jennings, vice president, player personnel and assistant general manager; Jim Fleming, who was named vice president, player development and scouting and assistant general manager.
It was reported earlier that the Marlins were simply extending everyone. That still happened, as each of the top four members of the front office were signed through 2015. However, a restructuring was also part of it. Florida owner Jeffrey Loria said nothing will change "in the structure and day-to-day operations of the Marlins front office," but added that the promotions and extensions "are well-deserved."
 Chris Seddon - S Sep. 29 - 5:53 pm et
Chris Seddon was pounded for five runs in 1 2/3 innings by the Mets on Saturday.
Seddon went 0-2 with an 8.83 ERA in four starts and three relief appearances for Florida. He's probably going to be booted from the 40-man roster this winter.
 Miguel Olivo - C Sep. 29 - 5:50 pm et
Miguel Olivo was ejected from Saturday's game after charging Jose Reyes and throwing a punch.
Tempers first flared when Harvey Garcia threw behind Luis Castillo in the fifth inning. The benched and bullpens cleared, but nothing happened then. After the delay, with Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez and Olivo on the mound talking to Garcia, Reyes started jawing with the catcher and Olivo went after him. The benches cleared again, but no melee ensued and Olivo was the only player ejected. He might have to serve a three- or four-game suspension to begin 2008.
Hanley Ramirez - SS Sep. 29 - 5:47 pm et
X-rays were negative after Hanley Ramirez left Saturday's game with a bruised hand.
Ramirez was hit by a John Maine pitch, though he wasn't awarded first base because the umpire said the ball also hit the knob of the bat. If Ramirez can't play Sunday, Robert Andino will start at shortstop.
 Miguel Cabrera - 3B Sep. 29 - 12:19 pm et
A source told ESPN that Marlins GM Larry Beinfest is getting an extension through 2015.
That seems excessive, but Beinfest is one of the game's most underrated GMs. Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria is also extending assistant general managers Michael Hill and Jim Fleming and vice president of player personnel Dan Jennings, the source said.

Jeremy Hermida - OF Sep. 28 - 10:51 pm et
Jeremy Hermida hit a two-run homer off Oliver Perez and walked Friday in the Marlins' 7-4 win over the Mets.
Hermida has 11 hits and eight RBI in his last five games. He's settled nicely into the three hole in the Florida lineup. If it looks like he'll hit there at the beginning of next year, he'll be one of our favorite picks for the season.
 Byung-Hyun Kim - S Sep. 28 - 10:36 pm et
Byung-Hyun Kim left Friday night's game with a blister on his right hand.
Kim's season is over.
 Byung-Hyun Kim - S Sep. 28 - 9:38 pm et
Byung-Hyun Kim left his start Friday after five innings with an undisclosed injury.
Kim surrendered four runs -- three earned -- before departing. He ends the year with a 6.08 ERA, though he wasn't nearly that bad while starting games for the Marlins.
Cody Ross - OF Sep. 28 - 7:05 pm et
Cody Ross is making his first start in a week Friday versus the Mets.
Ross has been limited by a strained left hamstring.
 Ricky Nolasco - S Sep. 28 - 8:54 am et
Marlins' RHP Ricky Nolasco has received special permission from Major League Baseball to pitch in the Arizona Fall League.
Nolasco, who threw just 55 innings (including the minors) this season due to elbow problems, will be one of the most experienced players in AFL history. He won 11 games in the majors in 2006.

 Scott Olsen - S Sep. 27 - 7:48 pm et
Scott Olsen finished his season with a win after allowing four runs -- two earned -- in 5 1/3 innings against the Cubs.
The Marlins pulled off a three-game sweep, winning by two, three and two runs. Olsen, who hadn't received a victory since Aug. 5, ends the year 10-15 with a 5.81 ERA. The stuff is still there, even if his head hasn't been for the much of the year. A change of scenery could help, but it's possible that his attitude problems will derail his career.
 Kevin Gregg - R Sep. 27 - 7:45 pm et
Kevin Gregg returned to action on Thursday and pitched a scoreless ninth for his 31st save.
Gregg hadn't pitched in a week because of a strained right forearm.
Hanley Ramirez - SS Sep. 27 - 7:43 pm et
Hanley Ramirez homered, doubled and drove in two runs in Thursday's victory.
Ramirez has topped his impressive rookie total of 76 extra-base hits with 81 so far this year. 29 of them have been homers.
