Marlins agreed to terms with RHP Kevin Gregg on a one-year, $2.5 million contract.
Barring an unexpected addition, that $2.5 million salary will make Gregg the Marlins' highest-paid player. He'll be the team's closer initially, but he's a top candidate to be moved during the summer.

Kevin Gregg, who hasn't pitched in a week due to a strained forearm, could be available on Thursday.
Gregg said the injury felt like a cramp, but it lingered for almost a week. Lee Gardner did a decent job filling in as the closer while Gregg was injured.

Kevin Gregg was held out of a save opporunity Tuesday because of forearm soreness.
Gregg says it's a cramp, though it's one that's lingered for a few days. "It's up here in my wrist, actually," he said. "They wanted to give me a couple of days, which I did. I came back today and played catch. I felt fine and no discomfort of any sort today. As of now, I'll be active tomorrow."

Kevin Gregg became the Marlins' fourth different 30-save reliever in four years, the first time in major-league history that has happened.
"I hope we don't see a fifth," said manager Fredi Gonzalez, who would like to start the season knowing who his closer is. Gonzalez said he felt stupid "for not making Gregg his closer sooner."

Kevin Gregg, who blew a save for the first time in his last outing on Sunday, struck out the side in the ninth Tuesday.
He's now saved 16 games with 45 strikeouts in 48 2/3 innings and looks like he's in the driver's seat as the closer. Justin Miller retired one batter in the sixth inning to earn the win for Florida.
